Reports: Liechtenstein 0-2 Portugal

Portugal had to wait until the second half to get the job done against Liechtenstein. They created plenty of opportunities but at no point did they look explosive. Two quick goals after the break snatched the game through Cristiano Ronaldo, scoring his 128th international goal and a clever strike by Joao Cancelo.

Cancelo dinked the ball into an open goal as Liechtenstein’s keeper Buchel charged towards the right flank leaving his line, but Cancelo beat him to the ball with ease and scored his 10th goal for Portugal.

Before that, Diogo Jota played a great through ball to the path of Cristiano Ronaldo who finished the ball into the net with a powerful strike. Ronaldo scored his 128th international goal, making him the joint top-scorer of the Euro 2024 qualifiers.

Goncalo Ramos almost added a third late in the second half, but his bundled effort was chalked off by VAR and after a lengthy check for both handball and offside.

Salanovic was played a great through ball on the left flank and the attacker was in on goal with no defenders near him offering a great opportunity to make the game 2-1, but sadly for the minnows Jose Sa did a great job of crowding him out.
