Georgia vs Armenia Predictions

UEFA Nations League tips and odds as Georgia host Armenia on Sunday.

The hosts need to pick themselves up and dust themselves down after a demoralising 1-0 defeat at home to North Macedonia on Thursday evening, missing the opportunity to qualify for a first-ever major tournament amid vociferous support outside the behind-closed-doors stadium in Tbilisi. It was a tightly contested encounter, but Georgia were ultimately undone by one real moment of quality from the visitors, with former Inter Milan cult hero Goran Pandev scoring the only goal of the game.

Coach Vladimir Weiss will be looking for his side to be less toothless here, with everything still to play for in this penultimate set of fixtures in League C Group 2. They remain level on points with North Macedonia at the top, having gone unbeaten with three score draws after an opening 1-0 victory over Estonia.

Opponents Armenia drew 2-2 at home to Georgia last month and will be hoping to go one better here, exploiting the demoralised hosts, to leapfrog them in the group. They still have every chance of topping this group and achieiving promotion up to the second tier, sitting just one point behind. They played no friendly in preparation, with their last outings a pair of draws in this competition last month.

Georgia Team News
Expected a similar XI to the one that was just edged to the Euros by North Macedonia on Thursday, with Lech Poznan’s Nika Kacharava facing competition from Tornike Okriashvili for the place up top.

Long-serving captain Jaba Kankava will feature in midfield, as ever, while Valeri Qazaishvili of San Jose Earthquakes could feature in a more advanced role, with Legia Warsaw’s Valerian Gvilia in the number ten role. Shakhtar Donetsk defender Davit Khocholava could be brought back into the fold here, having been brought on as a desperate auxiliary centre-forward in the dying moments of Thursday’s defeat.

Armenia Team News
Expect Armenia’s strongest available XI here and a similar approach to that which came away with a 2-2 draw at home to Georgia last month, with Roma star Henrkh Mkhitaryan featuring in the number ten role after dispatching a late penalty equaliser in that game.

Tambov striker Aleksandre Karapetian was given the nod up top on that occasion and should do so again here, with Rostov’s Khoren Bayramyan in a supporting role, having notched his first international goal in last month’s draw.
